Verify Mailgun mailing lists without exporting members
Connect Mailgun with an API key, choose a mailing list, and every member is verified with a live mailbox check. The verdict is stored on the member, and invalid members can be unsubscribed.
- No export, no re-import
- Catch-all and unknown are free
- Nothing is ever hard-deleted
How the Mailgun integration works
- 1
Connect Mailgun
Paste a Mailgun API key. US and EU accounts both work; we detect which region your account is in.
- 2
Choose a mailing list
Pick the mailing list you want checked. We pull its addresses and remove duplicates first, so an address listed twice is only verified, and charged, once.
- 3
We verify it in the background
Every address goes through the full check: syntax, domain and MX records, disposable and role detection, and a live conversation with the receiving mail server. The run shows in your Bulk Jobs like any other, so you can close the tab.

Results land in Mailgun
The verdict is stored in the member's variables (vars) as pv-good, pv-risky, pv-invalid or pv-unknown, so your sending code or templates can read it.
What each result means
Every address gets exactly one of these, written to Mailgun as described above.
| Result | Meaning | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| pv-good | The mailbox was confirmed to exist. Safe to send. | 1 |
| pv-risky | A catch-all domain: it accepts every address, so the mailbox could not be confirmed either way. | Free |
| pv-invalid | The mailbox does not exist. Sending here earns a hard bounce. | 1 |
| pv-unknown | No definite answer from the mail server (blocked, greylisted or timed out). | Free |
Cleaning up Mailgun
Remove invalid unsubscribes those members from the list. They are not deleted.
Removal is always your choice and never deletes anything. pv-risky and pv-unknown are never removed, because neither proves an address is bad. If a sync fails part way, nothing is written back at all rather than acting on partial results.
Why Mailgun users verify
Mailgun customers are usually developers sending at volume, where a few percent of bad addresses means thousands of bounces. Mailgun offers its own validation as a paid add-on; Prime Verifier checks the list where it sits and charges only for definite answers.
What it costs
A Mailgun sync costs exactly what verifying those addresses any other way would: 1 credit per definite answer (valid, invalid or disposable). Catch-all, unknown and error results are free, because none of them confirms anything. Credits never expire, and new accounts get free credits to try it, no card needed. See pricing for packs.
Mailgun integration FAQ
Do EU-region Mailgun accounts work?
Yes. We detect whether your account is on Mailgun's US or EU region and use the right endpoint.
Where is the verdict stored?
In each member's vars, the custom data Mailgun keeps on mailing list members.
How is this different from Mailgun's own validation?
It runs against the list you already have, writes the result back onto members, and only charges for definite results: catch-all, unknown and error are free.
