Email marketing integration

Verify Brevo contact lists, results in a contact attribute

Connect Brevo, formerly Sendinblue, with an API key, pick a list, and every contact is verified. Brevo has no tags, so the verdict lands in a PV_STATUS contact attribute you can segment on.

  • No export, no re-import
  • Catch-all and unknown are free
  • Nothing is ever hard-deleted

How the Brevo integration works

  1. 1

    Connect Brevo

Paste a Brevo API key (SMTP & API, API Keys).

If your Brevo account restricts API access to approved IP addresses, add our server's address first; otherwise a perfectly good key is refused. The address is listed in the developer docs.

  2. 2

    Choose a list

Pick the list you want checked. We pull its addresses and remove duplicates first, so an address listed twice is only verified, and charged, once.

  3. 3

We verify it in the background

Every address goes through the full check: syntax, domain and MX records, disposable and role detection, and a live conversation with the receiving mail server. The run shows in your Bulk Jobs like any other, so you can close the tab.

  4. 4

    Results land in Brevo

The verdict is written to a PV_STATUS contact attribute with the value pv-good, pv-risky, pv-invalid or pv-unknown. Filter a segment on it before you send.

What each result means

Every address gets exactly one of these, written to Brevo as described above.

ResultMeaningCredit
pv-goodThe mailbox was confirmed to exist. Safe to send.1
pv-riskyA catch-all domain: it accepts every address, so the mailbox could not be confirmed either way.Free
pv-invalidThe mailbox does not exist. Sending here earns a hard bounce.1
pv-unknownNo definite answer from the mail server (blocked, greylisted or timed out).Free

Cleaning up Brevo

Remove invalid adds those contacts to Brevo's blocklist, which stops all sends to them. The contacts are not deleted.

Removal is always your choice and never deletes anything. pv-risky and pv-unknown are never removed, because neither proves an address is bad. If a sync fails part way, nothing is written back at all rather than acting on partial results.

Why Brevo users verify

Brevo prices many plans by emails sent and keeps a close eye on bounce rates for shared and dedicated IPs alike. Every bad address is a wasted send and a mark against your sender reputation. Verifying before a campaign keeps both costs down.

What it costs

A Brevo sync costs exactly what verifying those addresses any other way would: 1 credit per definite answer (valid, invalid or disposable). Catch-all, unknown and error results are free, because none of them confirms anything. Credits never expire, and new accounts get free credits to try it, no card needed. See pricing for packs.

Brevo integration FAQ

Does it work with Sendinblue accounts?

Yes. Sendinblue is now Brevo; the same API key works.

My Brevo key is correct but the connection fails. Why?

Brevo lets accounts restrict API access by IP address. If that is switched on, add our server's IP (listed in the developer docs) to the authorised list, then reconnect.

Why an attribute rather than a tag?

Brevo contacts do not have tags. PV_STATUS holds the same four values our tags use everywhere else, so segments work the same way.
