Email verification for hotels and travel brands

A guest who never gets the booking confirmation calls the front desk, or worse, books elsewhere. And the marketing list built from Wi-Fi log-ins and loyalty sign-ups fills up with addresses typed just to get online. Verification checks addresses at booking and sign-up and cleans past-guest lists before the season's campaigns.

Where bad addresses come from

  • Wi-Fi log-in pages

Guests type whatever gets them online fastest. These sign-ups carry the highest share of fake and mistyped addresses in hospitality.

  • Bookings through travel sites

Reservations made through online travel agencies may come with an address supplied by the booking site rather than the guest's own inbox. Check the site's terms before adding those to marketing.

  • Front desk and phone bookings

Addresses spelled out at check-in or over the phone are easy to mistype.

  • Seasonal guests

Many guests come back once a year or less, so a past-guest list can be a year or more old by the time the next season's campaign goes out.

Where to verify, and what to do with the answer

WhereHowWhat to do
Direct booking engineReal-time API check when the guest enters the addressOffer the suggested typo fix so the confirmation arrives; ask again when the result is invalid.
Wi-Fi, loyalty and newsletter sign-upsReal-time API check, or a daily batch before addresses enter your marketing toolKeep invalid and disposable addresses out of the marketing list.

Pre-arrival emailsCheck the address at bookingIf it is invalid, collect a working one at check-in for the post-stay email.

Real-time checks use the email verification API; lists go through bulk verification (CSV or Excel, up to 500,000 addresses per file).

What to watch for in the results

  • Disposable addresses

Temporary inboxes are common on Wi-Fi and discount sign-ups. They are flagged as disposable: the guest will never see your offer there.

  • Typos on mobile

Most bookings and sign-ups happen on a phone. The built-in typo suggestion catches common domain mistakes such as gmial.com or hotmial.com.

  • Group and corporate bookings

Bookings made by an assistant or a travel desk may use a role address such as travel@. That is the right contact for the booking, not for personal marketing.

Every result comes with a quality to act on: good (send), risky (catch-all or unknown) or bad (invalid or disposable), plus a 0-100 risk score and the reason behind it. Read how catch-all detection works.

What it costs

Checking a past-guest list of 200,000 addresses needs at most 200,000 credits: $200 at pay-as-you-go prices, about $0.001 per address. Only definite answers (valid, invalid or disposable) use a credit; catch-all, unknown and error results are free, so the same pack often covers more. Credits never expire.

Questions from hotels, tour operators and travel brands

Do guests receive anything when we verify them?

No. The check talks to the guest's mail server and stops before any message is sent.

Can we verify Wi-Fi sign-ups automatically?

Yes: call the API from the sign-up page, or connect the Wi-Fi platform to your email tool through Zapier and check each new contact on the way in.

How often should a past-guest list be verified?

Before each seasonal campaign. Lists that are only emailed a few times a year go stale between sends.

Will verification fix booking confirmations that go to spam?

No. It makes sure the address exists; whether mail lands in the inbox also depends on your sending setup (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and reputation. Our free SPF and DMARC checkers help with that side.
